Farm Operations
Our farm cadets are exposed to every aspect of sheep, cattle and deer farming. They learn essential skills related to animal health and safety, raising and breeding of animals, livestock husbandry etc.
Our management team and training staff provide cadets with all the necessary skills, knowledge and practical experience, which helps them build their confidence and keeps them motivated to become the best in their field.
Smedley Station’s operations include:
Sheep Farming
- 12,000 ewes to ram.
- 3,000 to Terminal ram.
- Rest to Romdale and Romney.
- All progeny finished.
- 3,000 ewe hoggets to ram.
Cattle Farming
- 400 angus breeding cows.
- All progeny finished and used as replacements.
- Friesian 2 year bulls bought and finished.
- 15mth steers bought and finished.
Deer Farming
- 500 red hinds mated to red stags.
- 700 velvet stags farmed.
